I’m a little disappointed. I keep fluctuating at the same +/- .5lbs. I’m still down a grand total of 32 lbs since starting Operation Get Fit, which is a HUGE accomplishment, (*Insert self back pat*) but I’ve been working my azz off with the #2weekchallenge, walking/running, weights and portion control. I’m seeing definite changes in my clothes and body, just not the stupid scale. Doggoneit.

One of the most important things I can do to help myself on this journey to getting healthy, is to drink more water. And get moving more!

Growing up we almost never had pop in our house. Yes, it IS pop! Calling pop soda just doesn’t sound right… Pop was a treat reserved for special occasions. We drank water, milk, Crystal Light or apple cider.

Once I lived in the school dorms/moved out, I went pop crazy. I was in charge of what went in my body and I wanted all the good tasting but bad for you food and drinks I rarely got to have growing up. I lived on fast food, cafeteria dorm food and pop for longer than

I care to admit. And I wonder how I gained so much weight. DUH! It was easy, fast and I didn’t have to burn make it.

Now that I’m a grown-up (HA!) I’m way more conscious of what I put in my body.

I don’t even keep pop in the house anymore.

I was searching for a photo of Diet Coke with Lime, my all time favorite pop, and I got this. What the crap. And, EW!!!

But drinking water is still a major hurdle for me.

So, I’m taking part in the Brita Challenge to help me make drinking water a lifelong habit.

I pledged to take part a week ago and I have been slacking.

I’m putting it all out there and asking you to keep me accountable. Knowing that other people are going to chew my butt if I don’t follow through is some powerful motivation. It’s the whole Oldest Child, I can’t disappoint anyone thing… plus it’s good for me.

On the days that I’ve made a effort to get in my 8 glasses, this has become my best friend. Especially at 2am when I drink a whole bunch of water before bed. I never claimed to be the brightest… 

On the bright side, the whole I’m going to drink more water thing is also beneficial in the burning calories department. I’m getting in more steps to the bathroom and back and my potty dance is preeeeetty intense.

Do you do anything to flavor your water? I’m not so much a fan of boring water, I’d love some suggestions!

    I like Crystal Light Pure in my water – although I am fine drinking it plain too. And Diet Coke with bacon has to be fake. Right??? Tell me that is fake! Good luck this week. Oh and I didn’t lose one a pound on the first Gruntstyle challenge but I lost a ton of inches. You are doing awesome!!

    With Bacon? I’m glad I wasn’t drinking at that point or I’d have spit water all over my poor laptop. Have you checked out True Lemon? I’ve added them to water from time to time since I can’t have the aspertame used in a lot of the Crystal Light.

    Keep up the good work. Down 32 lbs is awesome.. Now just get moving on the water.. I too have taken the challenge. I’ve always love drinking water. Never been a big soda(pop.. had to do it.. i grew up saying soda)person either.. Keep it up you can do it.. Have a great week.

    I enjoy water… but still forget to drink enough in my busy SAHM kinda life. I usually flavor my water with natural flavorings… herbs, veggies or fruit. And yes, I call the late night water drinking a natural alarm clock. It gets me out of bed faster and with more urgency than anything else. Lol

    I do the same thing — drink too much water before bed!! Oh to hate those times when I wake up between 2-4am. Not cool.

    Also, I love diet coke. It was my best friend, and I gave it up 4 weeks ago. You can give it up too! 🙂

      Diet Coke is, I mean WAS amazing. I haven’t had any pop in 3 days. Please tell me the shakes subside soon!!! 🙂

    Funny the soda versus pop notation as growing up as a yankee, we always said pop but once we moved south, it was soda. We always had soda and as a young adult, we still had it. It’s only been within the past year that I almost eliminated it completely. I also struggled with the yo-yo’ing of five pounds but have kept off 16. You can do it and you already accomplished so much! GRATS!!!

    First of all it’s Coke. Don’t care what your flavor is, they are all cokes. but ok… whatever. moving on. is it a coincedence that after reading this I NOW am doing the potty dance? power of suggestion I guess.

    ok. back.

    As for flavored water, I love True Lemon (or Lime or Orange). I also like to add mint leaves or citrus slices to the water in the fridge. Oh and Cucumbers. Cucumber water sounds silly but I feel so luxurious when I drink it.

    Also am a fan of decaf herbal teas. They make so many yummy flavors that don’t need sweetener to still taste good. BIG FAN of Republic of Tea brand.

    Holy heck, lady, congrats on all the lost weight – you are awesome!
    Drinking water is a HUGE battle for me as well. I have found (as some awesome mamavation sistas suggested) that putting it in one of those water bottles with the reuseable ice stick thingys and letting it get super cold helps (simply put, the colder the water, the easier it is for me to drink.) I’ve heard tons of good things about the TrueLemon stuff, but have yet to try it.
    I hope this week is an amazing one for you – I’ll be around to gently nudge you along whenver you need it.

    I don’t drink enough water either… I’m trying to do better, and definitely use lemon slices a lot to flavor it.
